Privacy Policy

Kali Parea (“Kali Parea,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Smiling Bowtie. It helps you invite a friend to meet and book a time on your own calendar. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Email antoni@smilingbowtie.com.
The short version
- We read only your calendar’s free/busy — never your friend’s, and never the titles or contents of your events.
- We use your Google sign-in for identity and to create the events you book.
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- Your friend needs no account; we store only what’s needed to show them your invite.
Who we are
Kali Parea is a service operated by Smiling Bowtie, based in Ontario, Canada. For privacy questions or requests, contact antoni@smilingbowtie.com.
Information we collect
Account & identity (Google sign-in). When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. Google is our only sign-in method.
Google Calendar. With your permission we access:
- Free/busy — whether blocks of time are open or busy, so we can suggest times you’re actually free. We do not read the titles, descriptions, attendees, or contents of your events.
- Events — we create and manage the specific events Kali Parea books on your behalf when a friend confirms a time, and we may block matching travel time. We do not touch events we didn’t create.
Google Contacts (read-only). If you grant access, we read your contacts’ names and phone numbers or emails so you can pick or search for a friend by name inside the app. This access is read-only — we never edit, add, or delete your contacts.
Invite & recipient details. When you create an invite, we store the details needed to show it: your note, the activity, place, and times, and the name and phone number you enter for the friend you’re inviting. Your friend does not need an account.
Places you set. Your home or base location and any places you save, used to suggest spots and estimate travel time via Google Maps.
Technical data. Basic logs (such as device or browser type, timestamps, and error data) to keep the service running and secure.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: suggest times, send your invite, book the event, and notify you when a friend picks.
- To suggest places and estimate travel so we never offer an impossible time.
- To secure, debug, and improve the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Google API Services — Limited Use
Kali Parea’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the features you have requested, do not transfer it except as needed to provide those features or as required by law, do not use it for advertising, and do not allow humans to read it except with your consent, for security purposes, or as required by law.
How your information is shared
We share data only with service providers that help us run Kali Parea:
- Google — sign-in, Calendar, Contacts, and Maps, under your authorization.
- Hosting and database providers — to run the application and store your data securely.
These providers may process or store your information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service. We never sell your data.
How we store and protect it
Your data is stored with our database provider. Connections are encrypted in transit, and the Google OAuth tokens that let us act on your calendar are encrypted at rest and never logged. Access is limited to what’s needed to operate the service.
Single-sided by design
Kali Parea only ever accesses the calendar of the person sending an invite. We never access, read, or store the recipient’s calendar. The friend simply taps a public link and picks a time.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. You can disconnect Kali Parea’s access at any time from your Google Account permissions, and you can ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing antoni@smilingbowtie.com. Invite records are retained only as long as needed to provide and support the service.
Your choices and rights
Under Canada’s PIPEDA (and similar laws), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email antoni@smilingbowtie.com. You can also revoke Google access directly at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Children
Kali Parea isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to let you know.
